Take this example, and we must take some inspiration from this law. Denmark has recently given Personality Rights to all of its Citizens in the age of Deepfakes! This is a welcome step wherein in few of my previous blogs, I called many top AI Companies in the World as alike somalian pirates! As the former looted on the Internet, whereas, the latter loot in the sea? The difference is: the former made/made Trillions of Dollars, whereas, the latter make far less!
There are many instances across World wherein Media with the help of PR Agencies, copy the personality of random people, from urban or remote areas of the World, even the lifestyle, persona, behaviour, style, and then, market it as if it is the original source.Thus, the Hon’ble Courts should expand the provision of personality rights, and further, not only restrict such rights to the people who are covered in the Media, but also to anyone, in the age of Pirates of AI Companies. Furthermore, users end up paying for their AI services. Means, double whammy for personality rights.
This is a misconception that what you see in the Media is absolutely original. As, something from somewhere has always been adapted or replicated, the truth of which is not seen or accessible to all, and hidden under the services of PR Agencies (Pay & Use Services).
That’s why I had proposed this theory long back, that, whenever anything is sponsored or originating out of PR Agencies, then, the name of that PR Firm, and further, below the headlines itself, should be mentioned -> this is a PR generated content, or, sponsored; like in the case of the search engine itself, in the front page on the top, the sponsored content is clearly written. Furthermore, for your information and knowledge, search engines till some time back, didn’t even know about the significance of the copyrighted data of others; unless and until it affected their own companies (means, they were so strict about their own data, but, mismanaged data of others’), and would’ve taken you all to the Courts. Duplicity!
Of course, I’m not the I.P. Nazi, alike the Soup Nazi in the Seinfeld! Nope! But the original source of anything should be known to all. As even in the case of designs, patterns, GIs etc. I wrote earlier that most of the people won’t even come to know about the original source, or, inspiration, behind an expensive product, until and unless been confessed or disclosed in the Media. And, media won’t publish everything!
In short, the personality rights shall be given to everyone, and not only to the individuals associated with media; because, not everyone likes to use the Pay & Use Services of the PR Agencies! 😊
